How to Use an Intermediate Target to Make More Putts: The ABCs of Putting

Have you ever wondered how far away your intermediate target should be when you're putting? In this episode of our ABCs of Putting series, we're at I for Intermediate Target, and I'm coaching Jennah through this important part of her putting routine.

Jennah asks a great question: if you're putting from more than 5 feet away, should your intermediate target still be just a foot or two in front of the ball? The answer is that you want your target close enough that you can clearly see whether your putter face is square to it, but there are times when you may need to choose a target that's a little farther away. Your intermediate target could be a blade of grass, an imperfection, or another small mark that helps you identify your starting line.

We practice this with the Delta Putt and then take the concept to the carpet with a golf ball. Watch along with Jennah and see how using an intermediate target can help you visualize your line and become more consistent with your setup.
